Landscape benefits and culture: Sturdy trees common in local forests, and are known to get very large over time. Oaks often have green leaves with sharp or rounded lobes. All oaks produce acorns which can help identify the exact species. Oaks hybridize easily, which can make exact identification difficult. Oaks generally prefer full sun, and soil that is moist, well drained and acidic.
