Landscape benefits and culture: Soft needle like leaves are a bright green, against reddish bark. These needles emerge yellow in the spring, and turn a reddish brown in the fall before falling off the tree. Green cone-like fruits appear in the summer and mature to brown in the fall. Tolerant of wet areas and wind. Prefers acidic soil. Plant can sometimes form cypress knees, especially if planted near water.
Pruning: Late winter early spring
Potential pests/issues: Susceptible to fall webworm, cypress gall, mealybugs, mites and needle blights. Can be come chlorotic in alkaline soils.
