
Cotoneaster, 'Cranberry'

Habit: Arching artfully like a fountain to the ground, then crawling like a ground cover. Particularly effective cascading down slopes or over terrace edges. Silhouette is interesting even in the winter.
Growth rate: Slow/medium Fertilization: Spring or fall- Espoma: Holly Tone, Plant Tone, Tree Tone
Landscape benefits and culture: Sun to partial shade, although “berrying” is directly correlated to sun exposure. Holds it leaves very late in the fall before fall coloring. Very tolerant of dry soil and windswept sites. ‘Hess’ is shorter, with smaller leaves than Cranberry Cotoneaster
Pruning: Removal of too long shoots creeping on the ground any time during the growing season. Try to prune just beyond a leaf bud or side shoot.
