Figuring out Sunlight: Sun vs Shade

How do I choose between Sun, Part Sun and Shade? How much sun is full sun? 

Once you've found a location that you'd like to plant some plants, invest some time on a sunny day to observe how many hours the sunlight hits that location. Once you've figured that out, see below for which sunlight exposure category that location is in.

When you come in to Chalet or shop on our website, each plant will have instructions for which sun exposure to give it. The outdoor garden shopping area at Chalet is organized by sun exposure. Our staff is happy to help you navigate this selection!

Sun: 6 or more hours of direct sun daily.

Part Sun/Part Shade: 4-6 hours of direct sun daily.

Shade: Less than 4 hours of direct sun daily.

Some plants are flexible and can thrive in many different light conditions!
