Strategically placed vines can enhance your garden by softening blank walls, covering unsightly fences, providing shade, attracting wildlife or simply by being beautiful to look at. They can be divided into two groups: clinging and twining. Clinging vines grow by attaching root-like holdfasts to objects such as walls and solid fences. Twining vines
wind their way through arbors, chain-link fences and trellises. They must have some type of support structure and cannot climb surfaces on their own.
