Common Plant Issues in the Fall

Pests

• Aphids
  • Solution: Most insecticides
• Slugs and Snails
  • Solution: Sluggo
• Bagworms
  • Solution: Bioadvanced 3n1 Insect, Disease & Mite Control 
• Fall Webworm
  • Solution: Removal of webbing and worms by hand or systemic insecticide. Sprays will not work.

Diseases

• Leaf Spot
  • Solution: Gather up affected leaves after they fall and dispose of them. Treat with fungicide in the spring if symptoms are still present
• Galls or Cankers
  • Wait until winter to prune off affected branches. Sanitize pruners afterward.

Other

• Browning or loss of interior needles on evergreens
  
  • Solution: None! This is a normal process for evergreens at this time of year. The plant is just shedding old needles that are no longer needed.
