Landscape benefits and culture: Virginia creeper is a vine native to the Eastern United States. It grows best in full sun to part shade, tolerates full shade and prefers most well drained soils. This low maintenance vine has green foliage in the summer that turns orange red in the fall. Trim it regularly to keep it from taking over. The adhesive disks this plant uses to climb can ruin painted surfaces, gutters, shutters and other wooden structures.
Pruning: Anytime during the season once established
Potential pests/issues: Susceptible to mildews and leaf spots on occasion. Can be extremely difficult to remove from wooden surfaces, and causes damage to painted surfaces, gutters, shutters and other wooden structures.
