Firewood Types

Mixed Hardwood:

• Burns hotter (better for heating and cooking)
• Burns slower (lasts longer)
• Harder to light (requires cedar kindling or starter)
• Tends to be aromatic

 

Birch:

• Burns very hot
• Burns fast (Does not last as long)
• Bark is very easy to light

Oak:

• Long burn time
• Burns hotter (better for heating and cooking)
• Harder to light

Cherry

• Easier to light than oak wood
• Aromatic
• Makes crackling sound when burning

Hickory

• Burns very hot
• Aromatic, often used to smoke or cook food

Pinion Wood

• Burns hot
• Can be aromatic
