Pet Friendly Plant List

Enjoying a space where pets and plants can coexist does not need to be a challenge. You do not need to be an experienced green thumb to enjoy a pet-friendly green space. While some house plants may be toxic to pets, the plants listed below can safely and easily green up a room or office. The list includes plants for varying degrees of light and watering needs, and are safe for BOTH cats and dogs according to the ASPCA.

Low Light

Calathea	Indirect light, bright light should be avoided	Keep soil moist but not soggy
African Violet	Indirect light (north or east)	Keep soil moist but not soggy, avoid cold water/getting water on foliage
Polkadot plant	Bright to indirect light, can tolerate direct light	Keep soil moist, will wilt if it becomes dry

Bright Light

Ponytail Palm	Bright light to indirect light, avoid direct light	Likes very dry soil, let soil completely dry before watering
Phalaenopsis Orchid	Bright but indirect light (East or West)	Water about every 7 days in the morning, let water flow through freely
Bromeliad	Bright light (west)	Let soil dry out between watering
Areca palm	Bright light south or west	In fall/winter let soil dry in spring/ summer keep it moist
