• Location: Pachysandra prefers partial to full shade and will turn yellow in full sun. It thrives in well-drained, slightly acidic soil.
• Spacing: Plant pachysandra 6-12 inches apart to allow it to spread and form a dense carpet.

Caring for Pachysandra:

• Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist, especially during the first growing season. Once established, pachysandra is drought-tolerant but benefits from watering during dry periods.
• Feeding: Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring to encourage healthy growth. Holly-Tone is good with the 5% sulfur component to lower the soil pH.
• Maintenance: Pachysandra requires minimal maintenance. Trim back any overgrown areas in early spring to maintain its shape and prevent overcrowding.
• Mulching: Applying mulch is not necessary as it prevents the spread of the above ground stems and the increased density of the ground cover.

Additional Tips:

• Pest and Disease Management: Pachysandra is generally pest-resistant but can be prone to Volutella stem and leaf blight in overly wet conditions. Ensure good air circulation and avoid overhead watering to prevent disease.
• Winter Care: Pachysandra is evergreen and maintains its green foliage through winter. In colder climates, mulching with inverted cut evergreen branches can help protect the foliage and roots during extreme cold.
